How much will I get

Auto accidents, with or without physical injury, are costly. If the other driver is at fault, it’s fair for you to expect compensation. While there’s no simple answer to this important question, what we can tell you is that a number of specific factors are used to determine your compensation.

They are:

  • 1 The extent of your injuries
If you’ve been in an accident, get yourself and any passengers checked by a doctor right away. Documented costs of medical treatment, as well as a doctor’s estimates of future projected costs of treatment (including rehabilitation and physical therapy) are some of the first factors in determining compensation.
  • 2 Your economic loss
This includes any income you lost because you couldn’t work, as well as any future earnings lost while you recovered, or if you were permanently disabled.
  • 3 "Pain and suffering”
This can awarded in an effort to compensate you for any physical pain and emotional suffering you experienced as a result of the accident.
  • 4 The defendant’s behavior
If it’s decided that there was gross negligence on the part of the driver, such as drunk or reckless driving, the court can order them to pay an additional amount as a punishment for their actions.
  • 5 The limits of the insurance coverage
There are coverage limits, depending on exactly where the driver was in the rideshare cycle, from waiting for a ride request to completing a ride request. Learn more about ride periods here.
